由于新省教育局规定高等教育的最低雅思要求为6分，SIBT相应地提高其diploma文凭课程的入学要求，2010年起变为六分。

但是如果学生雅思是5.5分的话也仍然可以录取，只是要求顺利完成Communication和Study Skill单元，作为文凭课程学习的一部分。下面是具体的文凭课程安排及要求：

1.雅思六分直升文凭课程（8个月的快捷课程或者12个月的标准课程）
相当于雅思总分6分，各个单项不低于5.5分；符合学术成绩的要求

2.雅思5.5分有条件入读文凭课程（只能是标准课程）
相当于雅思总分5.5分，各个单项不低于5.0分；满足学术成绩的要求
学生必须顺利完成Communication and Study Skill 课程，并获得最低成绩55%以上。，然后学生才能升入文凭课程的第二学期。第一学期学生学习Communication and Study Skill（每周16各小时）+2门制定的文凭课程中的学术课程

Change of English entry requirements for Diploma from 2010

The New South Wales Department of Education and Training (DET) have recently directed all non self-accrediting Higher Education providers in NSW to adopt a minimum English entry requirement of IELTS 6.0.

Since 1997 SIBT students who entered our higher education courses with an IELTS equivalence of 5.5 and applied themselves have successfully completed the Diploma and transferred to 2nd year at Macquarie University.

SIBT is pleased to continue to offer students entry into the Diploma with an IELTS of 5.5. However, in light of the new Government requirements students who enter with an IELTS of 5.5 will be required to successfully complete a Communication and Study Skills unit as part of their Diploma.

IELTS 6.0 Direct entry into Diploma (Fast or Standard Track)

Equivalent IELTS score of 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in any band).

Meet appropriate academic requirement to study either

Standard Track (12 months)

or Fast Track (8 months).

IELTS 5.5 Provisional entry into Diploma (Standard Track only)

Equivalent IELTS score of 5.5 (minimum 5.0 in any band)

Standard Track (12 months)

Students are required to successfully complete (with a minimum score 55%) a Communication and Study Skills unit, which is considered the equivalent of attaining an IELTS of 6.0, and then they progress into the 2nd semester of their Diploma.

In their first semester students will study Communication and Study Skills unit (16 hours per week) + 2 prescribed Academic units from the Diploma.

The Communication and Study Skills unit has been developed to assist and support students to enable them to improve English proficiency and associated skills in their first semester of study. Students can use this as an advantage to successfully progress into the second semester of the Diploma.
