文化的大都会，有32000华人在此定居。曼彻斯特城市大学有全欧洲最大的校园，有学生45000名，跟其他三所大学和皇家北方音乐学院连在一起，在设计方面，与世界时尚教育巨头,时尚界最高殿堂——马兰欧尼学院（ISTITUTO MARANGONI)合作，带动了我校的设计学科的发展。
课程设置
商业、人文科学、社会科学、理科、体育科学等。全国的艺术及设计、成衣、酒店及饮食、人文科学、社会科学、理科及工程（包括体育科学）都比较强。课程程度由商业及科技教育协会（BTEC）高级国家文凭（HNI）至硕士及博士都有，但绝大部分是本科学生。
地理位置
曼彻斯特城市大学位于英格兰西北部的曼彻斯特市，该市是世界最古老的工业城市。英国第二大国际机场设在这里，国内铁路及公路干线亦以此为交汇点。驾车往伦敦只需两个半小时，到曼彻斯特及利物浦只需一小时。曼城现已成为一个多元文化的大都会，有32000华人在此定居。该大学有7所校园，分别设在曼彻斯特、Alsager和Crewe。主校园设在曼彻斯特市中心区，是欧洲最大的校园之一。
曼彻斯特（Manchester）是英国的棉纺织业中心，重要的交通枢纽与商业、金融、文化中心，位于英格兰西北部都市群的中心，英格兰西北部平原，东部临近奔宁山脉。曼彻斯特是棉纺织工业的发祥地。两百多年前，在这里诞生了世界上最早的近代棉纺织大工业，揭开了工业革命的序幕。曼彻斯特也随着棉纺工业的出现成为新一代大工业城市的先驱。
专业设置
曼彻斯特城市大学是一所注重教学质量与效率的综合性大学。学校专业设置全面，包括商业、人文科学、社会科学、理科、体育科学等。全国的艺术及设计、成衣、酒店及饮食、人文科学、社会科学、理科及工程（包括体育科学）都比较强。而艺术与设计学院, 酒店.餐饮与旅游服务学院在全英相关专业排名中都处于领先地位。此外, 曼彻斯特城市大学的知名学院系还有建筑系，工程系，法律系，图书馆系和运动科学系。

Professor John Brooks, Vice-Chancellor
Professor John Brooks was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University in September 2005 from the University of Wolverhampton where in seven years as VC he implemented significant changes.
A physics graduate of the University of Sheffield, John Brooks was awarded a DSc in 1998 for his work in the physics of materials which spanned some 25 years and resulted in three patents that enabled him to set up a joint venture company. He also holds a doctorate in solid-state physics and is widely published.
Nationally, he has been appointed to the Board of Universities UK and is Chair of the Equality Challenge Unit. He is on the Board of the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) and sits on several national committees. Regionally, he serves on the Board of the Northwest Development Agency and has been appointed to Chair the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s Daresbury Laboratory in Warrington. He is the new Chair of the Oxford Road Corridor, a collaboration between the two Manchester Universities, the City Council and the Manchester Royal Infirmary, which develops and extends the knowledge capacity to serve the city’s social, community and economic ambitions.
Professor Brooks has a particular interest in the development of vocational education and the improvement of educational opportunities at all levels, and strongly supports the increase in participation and widening access, believing that HE should be available to all who can benefit from it.
He is currently leading on a £300 million investment programme in new teaching and learning facilities as the University undergoes the largest physical change to its estate since its foundation and consolidates from seven to two campuses.
