 密西西比大学成立于1848年，是一所男女共校的公立研究型大学。密西西比大学位于美国密西西比州的牛津，由牛津主校区和三个分校区组成。 密西西比大学的学位授予部门位于密西西比大学的主校区，该大学下设会计学学院、应用科学学院、工商管理学院、教育学院、工程学院、文科学院、护理学院、研究生院、法学院、药科学院，另外，位于约翰逊校区的密西西比大学医疗中心还设有牙科学院、卫生相关专业学院、护理学院及医学院。
